clean egg stains from carpetOver time, you may find that you need to deal with various types of common and not so common spills on your carpets. If you have accidentally dropped an egg on the carpet, you must make sure you remove the spill in the proper manner so as to avoid semi-permanent staining.

Just don’t panic! Here are the steps you need to take to clean egg stains out of your carpet easily and safely:

But, first of all!

Always read the labels on your carpet for any specific cleaning instructions given by the manufacturer before proceeding to clean it or treat it for stains!

Blot out or scrape off as much of the spilled egg as you can with the help of a spatula, spoon or another suitable blunt tool. Do this gently as to keep the fibres of the carpet intact.

Make a mixture of lukewarm water, a few spoons of white vinegar and several drops of mild dish washing detergent. Always perform a test on a small and hidden area of your carpet before using any kind of cleaning solution!

Use a soft clean cloth or paper towel dampened with the cleaning solution to blot the stain. Blot it from the outside inwards, and do not rub it because you can cause further damage by doing so. Blot the treated area with dry paper towels so it is dried. Repeat the procedure with the homemade cleaning solution and dry. If you are not satisfied with the results, you may need to repeat the process once more.

Another solution which can be used is the pH neutral soap with lukewarm water. Apply it by blotting carefully. Follow up with a mixture of half a cup of water and a tablespoon of ammonia. Once again, apply by blotting. Apply the first solution once again, and then proceed to rinse with a dampened cloth in clean water. Always use cold water for the rinsing process, and never simply pour it on the carpet. Apply it with a clean cloth or sponge by blotting it on the stain.

Never over saturate your carpet with water, and make sure that it dries as quickly as possible.

If your carpet cannot handle water, you may want to use a specialized dry cleaning powder or spray, or ask your local professional carpet cleaning company to provide its expert services and clean the stain and the carpet safely and properly.
