You are dreading the day when it comes time for your spring or autumn window cleaning? You are not alone.
Washing windows can be an exhausting experience, especially if you have a lot of windows to clean. Here are a few ideas and tips on how to clean your windows in the easiest possible manner:
#1 Large, picture windows can easily be washed with a strip applicator and a solution of hot water and some dishwashing detergent. This tool is easy to use and can help you reach and cover large areas of your window with one strike.
#2 For soaping multipane windows use a natural sponge or a brush. Squirt some of the solutions on and rub the panes starting from the top and moving down to the bottom. Make sure you work those edges to get all of the dirt off.
#3 Use a squeegee to wipe your window clean! Rubber bladed squeegees are the perfect tools for efficient, easy and streak free window cleaning. Start from the left top corner of the window and move downward. Make reverse-S movements with the squeegee so that you can get the soap water off efficiently off of your larger windows. For the smaller windows, wipe down in single strokes.
#4 Wipe the edge of your squeegee after each stroke for a better and stain-free effect! Trim the blade of your squeegee if you have multipane windows and it cannot fit within one of the frames. Cut it down to a size which leaves 1/8 inches of space on each end of the blade.
#5 Wipe off and dry any remaining drips with a damp chamois. Use a rag to dry the window sill of your picture window. You will have a perfectly cleaned window without any unsightly stains and streaks once you are done!
#6 If after you are done there are still some stubborn spots on your window, use fine steel wool to scrub them off permanently. Rub them with a wet towel and use the squeegee once again to clean the window.
#7 You can apply special clear polymer coating with the strip applicator, and then use the squeegee to wipe it off as a manner of protection against the accumulation of dust, dirt, and staining. Re-apply the coating after every window cleaning and will ensure that your windows stay as clean as possible for a longer time.
#8 White vinegar and distilled water are also excellent window cleaning and protection solutions. Make a 1:1 mixture and spray it on the window, squeegee it off and wipe away any remaining wet spots after you are done!
